Stronger together: AAA Cash x G. de Koning
The introduction of a new variety can only be successful when it is embraced by parties further down the chain. Think of export companies, wholesalers, florists, or other processors. With AAA Cash, our new paintable santini, it is no different. And it is precisely because of its paintability that the commercial success of AAA Cash is closely linked to the opinion of colouring companies such as G. de Koning.
We therefore asked G. de Koning for their opinion on this promising variety, their expectations, and the opportunities they believe lie ahead for AAA Cash.
A colourful history
G. de Koning is, just like Dekker Chrysanten, a true family business. What once started with a small-scale flower line in Amsterdam laid the foundation for the company as it is known today, more than 45 years later.
The origin of the dyeing company, based in the Westland region in the Netherlands, is one of curiosity and coincidence. Founder Gerard de Koning once placed a flower stem in a colour solution, simply to see what would happen. The next day, the flower had taken on a surprising color, marking the start of a colorful entrepreneurial journey.
Not long after, Gerard was the first to sit at the table with exporters, presenting dyed flowers. What began as an experiment soon received its first real stage in the market.
A new generation, the same drive
Creativity and a love for craftsmanship are still at the heart of G. de Koning. With passion and pride, the team works daily on dyeing many different types of flowers. By now, Gerard has passed the baton to his sons, Frank de Koning and Robin de Koning. The next generation is already waiting in the wings as well, ensuring that the family business continues to build its future with the same curiosity and drive.
The assortment and applied dyeing techniques have also evolved over time. Where the colour palette once consisted of around ten colours, G. de Koning now works with more than eighty different shades. Thanks to innovative machinery, this is done in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. The products are coloured using either a stem uptake method or a dipping method. In addition to uptake and dipping, spraying and glittering are also among the possibilities.
The full palette
Within the broad range G. de Koning offers its customers, dyed chrysanthemums also hold an important place. Many chrysanthemums are dyed by them on a daily basis, including spray chrysanthemums, disbudded chrysanthemums, and santini varieties. AAA Cash is the newest paintable santini available on the market, and we asked Frank de Koning for his opinion on this product.
A welcome addition
According to Frank, AAA Cash is a valuable addition to the assortment. What makes it particularly special is that it is a santini that is exceptionally well suited for dyeing. While spray and disbudded chrysanthemums are widely available and frequently used in the dyeing process, santini varieties have generally lagged behind, which has so far limited the range.
Within the daisy-type santinis, AAA Bowie is already a unique exception. With AAA Cash, a new step is now also being taken within the pompon-type santinis.
The perfect combination
Endless possibilities
From soft pastel shades to bold, expressive colours: thanks to its dyeability, AAA Cash effortlessly adapts to every season, every style, and every application. This makes it highly versatile and suitable for a wide range of occasions.
At the same time, it combines creativity with reliability. Strong stems and good transport characteristics ensure that quality is maintained throughout the entire chain – from grower to end product. In this way, AAA Cash not only adds colour, but also new opportunities within the assortment of G. de Koning and its customers.
